The JumpStart Challenge is a fundraising event of Mr Price Foundation. It is a hybrid sports event from March 12 – 20  for cyclists, runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities. Participants from around the globe cycle or run (virtually or physically) to raise funds for Mr Price Foundation.

The JumpStart Challenge is Mr Price Foundation’s major fundraising event. Funds raised will support Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart programme. This aims to break the cycle of poverty and inequality in South Africa through education and skills development.

Anyone can participate! You can live anywhere in the world and all ages can participate. Gather a group of friends or club members and plan your route!

We welcome international participants. International virtual participants will pay an entry donation of $10. Enter here

No, there is no need to qualify to participate in the JumpStart Challenge.

At Holla Trails:  3.3km * 8.5km * 14km

At Holla Trails: 15km * 50km * 95km MTB rides

Participants can enter as many categories as they want. Each entry requires a new entry donation.

The JumpStart Challenge starts on Saturday, 12 December 2022 at 00:01am and finishes on Sunday, 20 March at 23:59pm. There is no specific time limit per event, your time must be logged by 23.59pm on 20 March.

You can change your distance after the event but BEFORE you submit your results on the system.

Virtual participants can take part anywhere or anytime, across the globe, from March 12 – 20 2022. Head to your favourite outdoor route or go all out on your indoor trainer or treadmill. Times will be tracked and uploaded via AthleteTracker. Participants will be emailed instructions prior to the event.

Holla Trails at Sugar Rush Park in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, is hosting the physical event from March 12 – 20 2022.

Virtual participants in South Africa will pay an entry donation of R99 to run/walk or ride the distances listed.

International virtual participants will pay an entry donation of $10.

Physical participants at Holla Trails will pay an entry donation of R140 to ride and R120 to run, which includes the necessary permits.

After completing their race, participants will receive a personalized electronic Completion Certificate via their listed email address. The results of every finisher in each race category will be recorded and visible on the JumpStart Challenge website.

Any type of bicycle is allowed.

You will receive a race number, a virtual Completion Certificate and virtual medal, and the satisfaction that you raced for change! Youth unemployment in South Africa is a staggering 63%; and 9.4 million youth are currently not in employment, education or training. Yet you empower youth through skills development and training. That’s a far greater reward than anything you could find in a goody bag! Thank you.

Yes. You will be emailed a race number upon completion of your entry. It is vital to have access to and remember your email address.

Before race day, detailed step-by-step instructions will be emailed to all entrants. This will include how to submit your time on race day.

Your race session must be run within 24h leading up to the race date to 24h after – in your time zone. Times will be tracked and uploaded via the AthleteTracker. Participants will be emailed instructions prior to the event.

Results will be recorded on the JumpStart Challenge website.  This link will go live from 12 March and will be available live as you and your fellow athletes upload your virtual race sessions. We also have a smartphone app ready for you: AthleteTRACKER. The app is available for iPhone in the App Store and Andriod on Google Play. Please note, this is a registration and results app – not an activity tracking app.

You will receive a virtual medal and a virtual Completion Certificate. These will be emailed to your listed email address.

Funds raised from the JumpStart Challenge will go towards Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart programme, to empower young South Africans through skills development and education.

Your entry donation supports Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart skills development programme. If you would like a Section 18A Certificate, you will need to donate an additional amount to Mr Price Foundation over your entry donation.
